Pregnancy Massage

A pregnancy massage can help with many issues including muscle cramps, back/neck and shoulder pain, swelling, difficulty with sleeping and relaxing all sorts of other tensions, to assist mum to maintain her health during this demanding time. This is a time of constant change and growth. Pregnancy is never static and so the massage also changes to support both mother and baby.

Prenatal massage is an integral part of our pregnancy support which is provided by our experienced practitioners who understand the special requirements of the mother at this time. Certain pressure points need to be avoided during the pregnancy massage. Our practitioners are skilled and sensitive, and can also assist with useful guidance and advice from the Chinese medicine perspective, including diet and acupuncture for stress management.

Our clinic provides a nurturing environment with a large, soft, specially designed pregnancy cushion, with a hollow for the stomach. This gives the mother the option of a side-lying massage, or to comfortably lie face down during the massage. It is just so nice to be able to lie on the tummy again. This takes some, or all of the pressure off your back, which can be a blessing in itself; plus the sheer pleasure and novelty of being able to lie face down again. You really won’t want to leave. Our treatment rooms are warm and peaceful, with relaxing music and gentle lighting, so you may even fall asleep during the massage, for a much needed rest.

Pregnancy is one of the most precious periods in a woman’s life. We can definitely help to make this a more pleasant time with memories of contentment and happiness. A well supported woman will make a much easier transition into motherhood.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a japanese style of acupressure massage or bodywork. Our clients love the work that Alice does; incorporating gentle body movements with stretches and acupressure massage. They feel more aligned, relaxed and some clients do fall sleep. A few are amazed that they can touch their toes again after their shiatsu session.

Shiatsu techniques are used to ease tight muscles, knots, aches and pains while being gentle enough to ease tension, relax the body and may induce a meditative like state. This is a great whole body therapy that can be used to help restore or maintain health.

Shiatsu may be able to

  • improve circulation

  • promote relaxation

  • alleviate pain

  • support the body’s natural balance.

A shiatsu massage session can leave you feeling refreshed, energized and relaxed.

The main difference between shiatsu and other types of massages is that shiatsu massage does not involve the application or use of oils, so traditionally loose comfortable clothing is advised. However, as you are covered by towels during the entire treatment, you may feel comfortable receiving a shiatsu treatment partially undressed.

Therapeutic Massage

Most people have experienced the sense of relaxation and well-being that comes after a good massage.  But Chinese Therapeutic Massage (or Tuina) is a little different and has larger goals than simply making you feel relaxed. Tuina is a special form of acupressure therapy that combines Chinese Taoist spiritual yoga principles, with martial art injury healing and energy abilities, to allow your body to reach a place of harmony and balance. Like acupuncture, Chinese massage uses the meridians of the body to treat a range of health problems.

Your therapist will start by learning about your general health and lifestyle from your health questionnaire and then ask further questions to determine the specific massage techniques needed as well as any combined therapies that may be effective.

Combination therapies

“In Combination, they are even more powerful”

Bing’s Natural Health is quite unique in offering a combination therapies treatment that includes massage, plus a Traditional Chinese Medicine modality such as  acupuncture, cupping or moxibustion.   Many TCM practitioners are only trained in one modality but all of our practitioners are competent in several modalities. This enables us to better serve your needs. The combination of massage plus acupuncture gives our practitioners the flexibility to diagnose more accurately and achieve results quicker than we could if we just used massage alone.

It’s interesting how our different practitioners attract different clients because massage is a particularly personal treatment. If you haven’t tried a combination massage session, talk to your practitioner on your next visit.

All of the practitioners at Bing’s Natural Health are trained and experienced in hands-on-work like massage and other therapeutic techniques, so you can receive the full benefits of combining therapies when you visit us.

Combining Treatments Helps Diagnosis: At our clinic we offer clients the option of combining treatments. When we start by massaging your sore knee, for example, we can find exactly where the soreness is, and where the pain originates.

This means that later in your session when we use acupuncture in exactly the right places, the massage has already softened the tissue and opened the acupuncture meridian energy channels, so that the effect of the acupuncture is heightened.

Common Combinations: The basis of the treatment is massage because of its powerful therapeutic effects on almost every condition. After all, the more freely energy is flowing to every organ in your body, the more efficiently they do their job.

Massage is most commonly combined with moxibustion, cupping, and acupuncture. These cause the tissues to relax, help the energy to flow more vigorously and speed the body’s own healing processes.

Saves you time: Combination massage sessions usually lasts for 1 hour or more, although they can be done in 45 minutes if necessary. This may seem like a long time for a session. However, if you were coming to us for massage and then perhaps going elsewhere for something like physio, you would have to add more waiting time, and travel time; not to mention the extra stress and expense that involves.

The Real Benefits of Combining Therapies: Your real benefit doesn’t come from the time or money you save, but from the deeper relaxation and healing you experience. The effect of combining treatments is cumulative – your body releases more tension, and that intensifies the healing you experience.

We recommend that you make an appointment to talk with one of our practitioners to discuss how we can help you.
